Having started stand-up whilst in his final year of Law at the University of Edinburgh, a year which saw him make the final of both the Paramount Funniest Student and Chortle Student Comedian Of The Year competitions, Stirling is a regular on the UK comedy circuit. Having been dubbed one of Scotland’s ‘Hottest Newcomers’ by The Scotsman after his performance in front of 750 people at the Glasgow Fruitmarket, he now gigs all over the UK including The Stand (Edinburgh and Glasgow), The Comedy Store (Manchester and London), Off The Kerb and various smaller clubs. In August 2009, Stirling performed in the final of the Chortle Student Comedian Of The Year at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, finishing runner-up to winner Joe Lycett. From October 2012, he toured with Russell Kane as a warm up act for Kane’s Posturing Delivery. Iain Stirling has one of the most recognisable voices on TV and we can’t get enough. His witty one-liners and soothing Scottish accent are heard by millions of us every evening during the summer months. Most of us now consider him a close and familiar friend, the Chairman of the island who is able to hilariously observe the Love Islanders while we’re at home screaming at the TV. Iain was a law student at Edinburgh Uni and is in the latest wave of floppy-haired comedians, writers, television presenters to make it big after being scouted during one of his stand-up routines. Iain started doing stand-up during his last year at the university, and in August 2009 he performed in the final of the Chortle Student Comedian Of The Year at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, losing out to fellow comedian Joe Lycett who is best known for 8 Out of 10 Cats and his own show, Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back. He’s narrated Love Island since its first series in 2015 and fast became a staple part of the show. Iain Stirling’s birthday is 27th January 1988, making him currently 32-years-old. Since March 2017, Iain Stirling has been dating fellow TV presenter Laura Whitmore. The pair moved in together in December 2018, with Laura buying a house in North London. He is the also the host of new ITV2 show Celebability that airs immediately after Love Island on Thursdays, the perfect cure if you can’t face going cold turkey from Love Island like us. He also has an upcoming stand-up show called ‘U OK HUN?x’ which we could only ever read in Iain’s voice as Olivia breaks down in tears for the fifth time that morning. Iain is a proud Southerner.
