Nina Derwael is a Belgian artistic gymnast. She is a two-time World champion and a two-time European champion on the uneven bars, the 2019 European Games champion on the balance beam as well as a two-time Belgian national all-around champion. She is the first Belgian gymnast to medal at the World Championships, the first become a World champion, and the first to become a European champion. She also represented Belgium at the 2016 Summer Olympics and is scheduled to compete at the 2020 Olympics. She is a decorated artistic gymnast who has won medals in a number of high-profile tournaments throughout her career. She is a two-time European champion on the uneven bars (2017, 2018), a gold winner at the 2018 World uneven bars, and the 2018 Belgian national all-around champion. She competed in the 2016 Olympics for Belgium. By winning the bronze medal at the 2017 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, she became the first Belgian female to ever win a medal at a world championship. When she was eleven years old, she moved to Ghent to train at the Belgian national team training centre and enrolled in a boarding school.
